For Theajuana Walker, opening a childcare business wasn’t just a career move; it was a calling.
Today, Ms. Walker is the proud owner of Walker Bunch Daycare in Grady County, a center created to provide safe, reliable, and specialized care for children, especially those with unique needs.
But her journey started long before the doors opened.
A Calling Rooted in Care
With over 20 years of experience as a nurse and foster parent, Ms. Walker has always been committed to caring for others. Through her personal experiences, she saw a major gap: families struggling to find quality childcare for children with special needs.
Instead of waiting for a solution, she decided to become one.
“I saw the need firsthand,” she shared. “And I knew something had to be done.”
The Push She Needed
Like many aspiring entrepreneurs, Ms. Walker had the passion and the experience—but needed the right support to take the next step.
That’s where the Childcare Entrepreneur Cohort came in.
The program provided the structure, guidance, and confidence she needed to move forward.
What once felt overwhelming became possible with step-by-step support and a community walking the same path.
“The cohort gave me that push,” she said. “It helped me organize my thoughts and actually move forward.”
From Idea to Open Doors

Today, Walker Bunch Daycare is fully operational, serving children Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 6 PM. Families trust Ms. Walker not only for her nurturing approach, but also for her medical background and experience supporting children with more complex needs.
Her business continues to grow through word-of-mouth, as families share their experiences and recommend her services to others.
Meeting a Growing Need
As childcare centers close across the region, the need for quality care continues to rise, especially for children with autism and other medical needs.
Ms. Walker is now working toward expanding her business into a larger facility that would allow her to:
Create dedicated spaces for children with autism
Better support medically fragile children
Extend hours to serve working families
Reach more families across surrounding communities
Her vision is bigger than a daycare; it’s about creating a space where every child is cared for, supported, and able to thrive.
Building Beyond Fear
Ms. Walker’s journey is a powerful reminder that growth often starts outside of your comfort zone.
She pushed past hesitation and turned her vision into a real, thriving business, one that is already making a difference in her community.
Her advice to others is simple:
“Don’t be afraid. Step out and do it. There’s a need, and you can fill it.”
