When a community evangelist spoke at Harry Vann’s church about neighborhood transformation through entrepreneurship, the hardworking financial advisor from Allen Mooney Barnes Investment Advisors felt a divine calling stirring in his heart.

A moment of shared joy: Jennifer Dyson celebrates her Spark Thomasville graduation alongside her business coaches Harry Vann, Dr. Lorraine Williams-Rahming, and Earl Williams. Through collaboration and guidance, these mentors supported Jennifer's vision for Unlimited & Beyond Catering.

The message was clear: investing in neighborhoods through opening businesses, and strengthening entrepreneurship could be a powerful form of ministry.

Through Doug Shierling’s invitation to become a Spark Thomasville volunteer business coach, Harry found a way to live out his faith beyond church walls.

“It was a God thing,” Harry shares with conviction. “I didn’t know what I was getting into, but whenever a ‘God-thing’ happens, I do it!”

Though initially uncertain about what gifts he could offer entrepreneurs, he soon discovered his financial experience and networking acumen were gifts he could easily give.

“Before I knew it, I was working with an absolutely fantastic entrepreneur, Jasmine Calhoun of The Diverse Pour. I learned so much from her! She taught me about community, how we desire connection, to share and enjoy spaces together.”

As a business coach in Spark’s Fall 2024 cohort, Harry found a new opportunity to share his expertise with entrepreneur Jennifer Dyson, owner of Unlimited & Beyond Catering. Together, they navigated the complexities of business planning and financial management.

Harry has the heart of an entrepreneur. “I have always been in sales, responsible for my own paycheck.”

Drawing from his own entrepreneurial heritage - his father was an attorney, one grandfather owned a grocery store, and another was a farmer - he understands the importance of business guidance.

Today, he runs his own business practice with Allen, Mooney & Barnes, advising clients how to maximize their investments to build the quality of life that supports mission.

Connecting people with other people who can help each other is Harry’s unique gift.

“Spark is a great springboard for entrepreneurs with great ideas to learn how to write a business plan, to learn how to talk about their business idea, to give them the confidence to talk to potential funders, accountants, lawyers, and marketing. Spark helps you develop your map to success.”

Harry adds, “It is networking on steroids!”
