WTXL’s Layan Abu Tarboush recently spotlighted how our business incubator is addressing a critical gap in Thomasville’s childcare landscape.

The story shows what happens when hardworking entrepreneurs receive the support they deserve.

Thank you!

Filling Gaps with Specialized Care 🏠

The 2023 Workforce Plan by Georgia Partnership for Excellence exposed a troubling reality: Thomasville has less than half the quality childcare spots needed for children under 5.

But Spark’s current Childcare Provider Business cohort is changing that equation by helping local entrepreneurs gain the skills and certifications needed to launch child-focused businesses that serve all kids, including those with special needs.

Instructor D’Angela Ellis put it perfectly: “Childcare is not one size fits all.”

Through generous knowledge-sharing and coaching, Spark is equipping entrepreneurs to meet diverse community needs.

Meet Theajuana Walker: From Dream to Reality 🌟

Ever wonder what happens when professional expertise meets entrepreneurial vision?

Tawana Walker embodies the untapped business brilliance Spark exists to nurture.

As a nurse and foster mom with 20+ years caring for children with special needs, she brings unmatched qualifications to her childcare venture.

“It’s been a lifelong dream,” Tawana shared, highlighting how her business will give parents of special needs children “a cushion” in a community where placement options are scarce.

Why This Matters for Thomasville 🌱

When underestimated entrepreneurs like Tawana receive proper support:

  • Specialized childcare gaps close

  • Parents can work without worry

  • Children receive quality early education

  • Local wealth stays in Thomasville

  • New jobs emerge in neighborhoods that need them most

Thank You For Sparking Change

Spark donors show Thomasville is worth investing in, worth serving, worth loving—and Spark’s entrepreneurs prove it daily.
